Haunt Gold Devlog


This past week, Haunt has had several minor changes, mostly to existing systems. These included balance changes, visual improvements, guidance improvements, and a few cutscenes.  We rebalanced all the guns, overhauled the sword weapon, and buffed several upgrades.  For visuals, we retextured the underground hub, we added new enemy attack animations, new walls, new coin icons, new attack visuals, post processing effects, new boss visuals, better graveyard visuals, and sprite tweaks.  For guidance improvements, we added new cutscenes which focus the player on the action, new sprite prompts, and more friends ♥.  Finally, we added boss spawn and death cutscenes to bring the battle to life.

Most of the changes we made this week were focused around improving the polish and stability of our game.  We wanted to fix as many bugs as we could before the showcase, but we also implemented several quality of life features, and we finalized a few features we added last week that didn’t quite turn out.  Overall, we focused on getting our game into a releasable state. 

Going forward, we intend to stop development.  We are planning to go our separate ways over the summer, with many of our members starting internships and jobs that would prohibit continued development. However, multiple of us have expressed interest in continuing to develop the game at a later date or even going as far as to remake the game with whatever new skills we have acquired by that time.
