Haunt Beta Devlog


This week was a huge overhaul to map, art, lighting, sound, and detailed interactions.

First, we completely recreated the map and greatly increased the size. The new map is almost quadruple the size of the previous map, and it includes more artistic features such as pathways, walls, pits, as well as an animated teleporter. We have also added more lighting to the player, teleporter, and in the background to create a more immersive experience.  In addition to the map overhaul, we have greatly improved almost all in-game art.  We have created artistic sprites for bullets, map components, as well as animated sprites for the player, teleporter, and the enemy fire torch.

Next, you’ll be able to play with sound! We have added sound for nearly every game mechanic, including background music, guns, teleporter, shop, and tutorial sounds. This will give a much more immersive experience and allows the player to feel more of the atmosphere of the game.  Finally, we have added numerous quality of life changes, including dialogue prompts, button prompts, a streamlined tutorial, and new boss behaviors to revamp the player experience.
