Haunt Alpha Devlog


This week was a huge overhaul to a lot of our mini systems along with many new additions. We’ve added 8 new enemies this week along with a boss in order to deepen the player combat experience and to provide a greater purpose to gameplay.

  • Peasant Torch Enemy - swings a torch
  • Peasant Pitchfork Enemy - charges at players from a short range
  • Archer Enemy - slowly shoots arrows
  • Elite Archer - stronger archer enemy
  • Multi-Archer Enemy - shoots shotgun blasts
  • Arbalest Enemy - shoot tracking projectiles
  • Demolition Enemy - throws explosives and explodes on death
  • Thief Enemy - dash attack with teleport after dash
  • Magic Archer - shoots projectiles in patterns
  • Cleric Enemy - builds pedestals

Along with these added enemies came an enemy sprite overhaul, with all enemies getting individualized sprites - no more squares! We have also redecorated our store to make it fully functional with health pickups, shields, and guns alongside a completely new Upgrades system for purchase. This system allows the player to purchase up to two Upgrades per night, ranging from movement speed increase to an explosive dash. These upgrades were added to allow for a lot of player decisions in what type of build they want to go for and what they think will be the most effective. Randomizing what upgrades appear also allows for recurring players to discover different play styles.

This coming week will see us take a heavy focus on major visual overhauls including sprites and animations. Along with these visual changes, we will also be focusing on sounds and music. We are also planning to take a close look at balancing our weapons, upgrades, and enemies to make this the most enjoyable experience for all. Finally, we are also looking at a map overhaul coming in the next week.
